Breast Augmentation - Is it For You?

By James P Wilkinson

We hear stories in the media of the breast enlargement procedures that the stars have received but surgery can also help you decrease the size of your breasts if they are out of proportion for your body and breast augmentation can help you adjust both their size and shape.

There can be many reasons for wanting to "go under the knife" - some of us may be simply unhappy with our breasts and want the confidence boost that this procedure can give and others may just feel that they want their breasts to be as big as possible (especially in the case of some well known Glamour models that spring to mind).

The reason for wanting this surgery in some cases may be a little more upsetting and there will be some women who have suffered a single or double mastectomy due to breast cancer. The placement of surgical implants can be a step towards rediscovering the femininity that they have lost and this is certainly a good reason to go for breast augmentation after receiving counselling.

It is natural to compare yourself against other women; this is an inherently human trait. There will always be people with what we perceive to be bigger or better breasts and this should not be the reason you opt for this procedure.

If you feel that this issue is causing a large amount of stress you should consult a doctor and possibly opt for counselling before you make the decision. Everyone wants bigger breasts but can you imagine having them every day for the rest of your life?

Breast augmentation, as I mentioned above, can be useful for changing the shape of your breasts and an implant along with a certain amount of adjustment can make your breasts look more pert. If your breasts are naturally too big you can have some of the tissue removed and again a tightening of the area can be carried out to make your breasts look younger.

Whatever your reasons for opting for breast augmentation you should always seek out a qualified and experienced surgeon to carry out any cosmetic surgery procedure.
