What is a Liposuction?

By Tom Jenkins

Liposuction in Dallas, which is also known as lipoplasty or liposculpture, is a plastic surgery procedure that eliminates hard to remove fatty deposits located between a person's muscles and skin. The surgery itself is performed used a device called a cannula, which is a stainless steel, reed-like device. The cannula is used to make little holes between the patient's fat layers. After the cannula is removed, the tunnels in the fat deposit collapse. These collapsed tunnels are what give the liposuction patients a contoured look.

It is very important to note that lipo can only eliminate hard to remove fat deposits and not cellulite. A Dallas Liposuction should also only target those fat deposits that are resistant to exercise and a proper nutritional regimen.

Dallas Liposuction can be conducted on numerous body locations. The most popular areas for women to have liposuction are the thigh and stomach. For men, the most popular area is the stomach and flank. Additionally, liposuction can also remove fat deposits from the chin, knees, arms, neck, face, and back of the legs.

When undergoing this procedure, whether in Dallas or Fort Worth, it is important to not remove more than ten pounds at a time. Failure to heed this advice can lead to an increased risk of post operative complications. Another issue with removing too much fat at once is that the patient can end up with 'lumpy' areas.

There are numerous reasons why someone would choose to undergo a liposuction in Dallas or Fort Worth. These include increasing their health, contours, proportions, and self-esteem. It is definitely worth repeating...liposuction in Fort Worth is not to be used as a weight loss technique. Excess fat deposits should be removed by exercise and nutrition first, then plastic surgery last.

In case you were wondering, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons , liposuction is the most common cosmetic surgery procedure. In 2006 alone, over four hundred thousand people underwent this procedure.
